Talented young midfielder, Nick Powell is closing in on a season-long loan move to Wigan Athletic. Manchester United had planned for Powell to break into the first-team this season but injury saw Powell miss the club’s first pre-season under the new manager. David Moyes now sees Powell’s development as being best served with a spell away from the club with Owen Coyle’s Wigan are seen to be the ideal destination for Powell, as the player would be able to continue living in the North West while the Latics also have a reputation for playing good, passing football.
The move is expected to go through before the end of the transfer window, providing United add midfield depth to their squad. The former Crewe star is however is very much remains a central part of the long-term plans at Old Trafford. For the moment, a loan spell for the 19-year old is seen as the best for his future.
